Miami Ad School Amsterdam and A-A-P Agency (1)
Victor Alling's ( A-A-P Agency) aim in participating in the 'Quarter Away' teaching program of the Miami Ad School Amsterdam is to teach the students both presentation skills and 'outside the box' thinking. Classes on Contemporary Art, Artists & Design, Art history as well as movie analysis are the tools with which he supplies the students with information to work on their own 'core value' and to use freedom of speech in their creations.
"My assignments make the students research into their creativity and their own boundaries, trying to open new doors and helping them understand their position as 'creatives' within the current market situation and advertising. Besides creativity, something more is recquired: to understand the system and how to brake the rules, with a particular vision."
The assignments A-A-P Agency has worked on with the students are:
- NIKE Europe
- The Innocence Project
- CITIZEN M Hotels
- Iamsterdam, City marketing campaign with Bureau Pindakaas
- 'The Friendly Fire Ads'
- Schwarze Dose , Energy Drink
- 'ONE MINUTE' Drawings
- 25 WORDS for Iamsterdam
- Amsterdam Inbusiness
- EUROBEST Amsterdam
- 'The Color of...'. Based on the Viktor&Rolf documentary Flowerbomb.
THE CURRENT QUARTER AWAY AMSTERDAM TEAM ARRIVED IN JULY 2010 DURING THE FINAL OF THE SOCCER WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IN SOUTH AFRICA.

Jean Pigozzi: "..even your dog can take a picture."
Italian Harvard educated venture capitalist Jean Pigozzi owns the biggest collection of contemporary African art.But he has never considered collecting art as a business or some kind of speculation.'I am just an obsessive collector'.....
Q: Being a photographer yourself, which photographer do you admire the most?
A: Robert Frank by far.He took pictures in the fifties and also later that were completely revolutionary.I also like Richard Avedon, Seydou Keïta, Irving Penn, Guy Bourdin and Helmut Newton. They are all great photographers in their own field. The problem with photography now is that even your dog can take a picture. It has become so easy.Still there is an ocean of difference between a good and a great picture.Taking a great picture is not so easy........
Complete interview is published in issue nr 2 of our #59 Magazine.
Special thanks to mr. J. Pigozzi http://www.caacart.com/and to Trunk Archive New York.

Seydou Keïta - Mali, in #59 Magazine.
Seydou Keïta (1921- 2001) was a self-taught portrait photographer from Bamako. He is mostly known for his portraits of people and families he took between 1940 and the early sixties and that are widely acknowledged not only as a record of Malian society, but also as pieces of art.
Keïta developed an interest in photography when his uncle gave him a Kodak Brownie with a film with eight shots in 1935, after returning from a trip to Senegal. In the beginning Keïta worked as both a carpenter and photographer, taking first portraits of his family and friends, later of people in the neighborhood. He learned photography and how to develop from Pierre Garnier, a French photographic supply store owner, and from Mountaga Traoré, his mentor. In 1948 he set up his first studio in the family house in Bamako-Koura behind the main prison.

‘The Jewel that is Europe’ is a motoring adventure across Europe another Jewel Event. Created for those with suitable cars, to navigate roads that pass through spectacular scenery with the most amazing vistas. 'The Jewel of Europe I', started from the Chateau de Montfort in France, situated in the 'Périgord Noir' region; famous for its black truffle and foiegras. The journey took the cars through many historic and scenic places in France and Italy. The Grand Finale Gala Dinner was held at the Palazzo Ducale di Monforte in the picturesque village of Fragneto Monforte; a stone’s throw from the Almafi Coast. ‘The Jewel That is Europe II’, started from Beaulieu Sur-Mer, on the 6th June, 2008 and finished once again at The Palazzo Ducale to be followed by a Black Tie Gala Dinner on the 13th of June, 2008, by gracious invitation of The Princess Pignatelli di Strongoli; overlooking the spectacular Bay of Naples on the rooftop of her private Palace.
In September 2007, The Jewel Events produced ‘The Jewel That is China’, the first time private cars from many countries from around the world travelled from Shanghai to Beijing, a truly unique experience for all those involved and produced at the request of the Government of the People's Republic of China.
The first ‘The Jewel Of The Cape’ was held in February 2009. Fourteen days of shear luxury, the finest hotels, wine and food one could imagine, as well as a driving experience that did not fail to astonish the participants, the routes without exception were scenic to the extent of being awesome, never failing to offer excitement and visual beauty.
It is our intention always to make all our events unfor gettable, culinary experience, enjoying the best regional food and wine available. We endeavour, in every way, to discover routes and special unique venues that will astonish our participants and give them unsurpassed life and driving experiences.
Participation is by invitation only. This distinguishes our rallies from all the “usual” lifestyle rallies.
